During a search in the Happy Grove area of Red Hills, a Taurus handgun, two magazines and 26 rounds of ammunition were reportedly discovered hidden underneath an old dresser.

ST. ANDREW, Jamaica — A Taurus pistol, two magazines and 26 rounds of ammunition were reportedly discovered concealed under an old chest of drawers during a search operation conducted on Saturday, July 6, in the Happy Grove area of Red Hills, St. Andrew.
St Andrew North police said an investigation took place at about 12.45pm when officers searched a home believed to be owned by a farmer.
The farmer was arrested on Friday after a second search of his land uncovered an M16 rifle with a magazine containing 13 rounds of 5.56 calibre ammunition.
“These operations are part of a wider effort to continue to target guns, gangs and militancy in the St Andrew North district. Indeed, a total of 27 firearms and 309 rounds of assorted ammunition have been seized since the start of 2024,” said Superintendent Sherika Service, St Andrew North District Commander.
“As the investigation continues, anyone with information regarding the crimes being committed or the location of illegal firearms or ammunition is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 911, Crime Stoppers at 311 or the Constant Spring Police Department at 876-9241421,” Service said.
