Reggae firebrand artist Fantan Mojah is currently in hospital in Martinique after suffering breathing problems and a “chest tightness” shortly after arriving on the island on Wednesday.
Reports are the health situation will force the “Stronger” singer to cancel his performance at Reggae Therapy Festival 2024, which takes place this weekend on July 12th and 13th in Martinique.
“He will definitely miss this weekend’s Reggae Therapy show and will also miss another show in French Guiana as doctors have said he will not be able to fly for the next three weeks,” a source close to Fantan Mojah confirmed.
“We were due to leave on Sunday and we need to let our fans know that he is OK but will not be able to attend these commitments.”
Fantan Mojah was born in Whitehill, St. Elizabeth. To gain experience, he worked in traveling sound systems, performing songs during sound checks. He adopted the name “Mad Killer” in homage to one of his favorite artists, Bounty Killer. After coming into contact with the Rastafarian movement, his music took on a more positive tone and he was encouraged by Capleton to take the name Fantan Mojah.
Fantan Mojah got his big break in 2005 with the release of his first album, “Hail the King,” which continues to enjoy success around the world.
He is known for singles like “Stronger,” which has over 30 million views on YouTube, and songs like “Rasta Got Soul,” “Most High Jah,” and “Nuh Build Great Man,” all featuring Jah Cure.
