The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is urging Jamaicans to keep an eye on its official social media pages for the latest updates, following reports on social media that it plans to cut off electricity supply at 11pm on Tuesday.
JPS said it has no plans to cut power on Tuesday, but indicated some areas may experience power outages as the storm begins to affect the island. It also said the network may gradually move into full shutdown mode to “protect itself” depending on the impact of Hurricane Beryl.
News is circulating that power companies plan to shut off power on Tuesday night in preparation for the impact of the oncoming storm.
