ST JAMES, Jamaica — The community of Hurlock in St James was rocked by two separate fatal incidents on Friday night, occurring just minutes apart and casting a shadow of fear and mourning over the area.
Identified Victims
The two victims, both residents of Hurlock, have been identified as 20-year-old graphic artist Ronaldinho Headley, known locally as “Mike,” and O’Neil Howe.
Incident One: Bar Shooting
The first tragic event unfolded around 8:00 PM at a local bar where Howe and several other men were socializing. According to police reports, a Toyota motor car approached the establishment, and armed men emerged, opening fire on the group outside. The assailants quickly fled the scene.
Authorities were called to the site, finding three men injured. Howe and the other wounded individuals were swiftly transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, Howe succumbed to his injuries. The other two men are currently undergoing treatment for their wounds.
Incident Two: Shooting of Ronaldinho Headley
Merely half an hour later, the calm of the night was disrupted by more violence. At approximately 8:30 PM, residents reported hearing multiple gunshots and alerted the police. Upon arrival, officers discovered Ronaldinho Headley’s lifeless body lying on a roadway, riddled with bullet wounds. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but sadly, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ongoing Investigations
Police have launched investigations into both incidents, seeking to understand the motivations and identify the perpetrators behind these heinous acts. As of now, it remains unclear whether the two events are connected.
The community of Hurlock is left reeling from this double blow of violence, with residents calling for increased security measures and swift justice for the victims.
