Dancehall artiste D’Angel recently brought smiles to the faces of 400 children in St Catherine during a back-to-school treat organized by her Angel’s Foundation. The event, which took place at the Spanish Town Municipal Park on August 30, saw children receiving school shoes, backpacks filled with essential supplies, and other goodies.
“I’m very pleased with my back-to-school drive; it was another success. I’m also happy for all the children who benefitted this year,” D’Angel shared. The artiste expressed her gratitude to all the sponsors who supported the event, including Tequilero JA, Designer Bodies, Rohan ‘Quite’ Perry, and the Jamaica Constabulary Force, among others.
D’Angel, born Michelle Downer, hopes to make the initiative even bigger next year with the help of more sponsors. “The reaction from the children was priceless. God willing, I definitely will be doing it again next year. I’m already in talks with potential sponsors so we can go bigger for 2025,” she stated.
The singer also took the opportunity to thank her fans for their continued support and encouraged the public to practice kindness and giving back. “The act of kindness and giving back is something I think everyone should practice. It would make this world such a better place,” she added.
In addition to her charitable work, D’Angel was honored with a Special Community/Humanitarian Award at the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) earlier this year. Her commitment to making a positive impact in her community and beyond is truly commendable.
