LONDON, United Kingdom— England forward Cole Palmer has committed his future to Chelsea by signing a two-year contract extension. The Premier League club made the announcement on Tuesday, ensuring Palmer will remain at Stamford Bridge until June 2033.
Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last September in a £42.5 million ($54.7 million, 49.7 million euros) deal, is ecstatic about his new deal. “I’m delighted to sign this new contract,” Palmer told Chelsea’s official website. “I achieved a lot in my first season here, and hopefully, I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and bringing success and trophies to Chelsea.”
The 22-year-old had an outstanding campaign last season, scoring 22 Premier League goals, and played a crucial role in propelling Chelsea to a sixth-place finish in the league. His striking performances earned him the Premier League Young Player of the Year award. Among his goal-scoring feats were remarkable league hat-tricks in successive home games against Manchester United and Everton.
Palmer’s impressive form extended to the international stage as well. He was part of the England squad that reached the final of Euro 2024. In the climactic match against Spain, Palmer came off the bench to score an equaliser, although England ultimately lost the final.
Looking ahead, Chelsea will kick off their new Premier League campaign at home against reigning champions Manchester City on Sunday. The Blues will be hoping Palmer can carry his scintillating form into the new season as they seek to climb higher in the league standings and secure silverware.
