Kingston, Jamaica — Jamaican Premier League champions Cavalier FC secured their place in the 2024 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup final with a commanding 7-0 win over Moca FC from the Dominican Republic in their semi-final return leg at the National Stadium on Wednesday. This victory also guarantees Cavalier FC a spot in the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup, where they will be Jamaica’s sole representative in the 27-team tournament kicking off in February.
Cavalier’s impressive win came after a goalless first leg in the Dominican Republic. Shaquille Stein led the charge with a hat-trick, while Kaile Auvrey scored twice, Christopher Ainsworth added another, and Dwayne Atkinson completed the scoreline. Cavalier raced to a 2-0 lead within the first six minutes, with Auvrey scoring in the first minute and Stein following in the sixth. Ainsworth’s goal in the 23rd minute and Stein’s second just before halftime gave Cavalier a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break.
The second half saw Cavalier maintain their offensive momentum. Auvrey netted his second goal in the 51st minute, Stein completed his hat-trick in the 62nd, and Atkinson rounded out the scoring in the 79th minute.
Cavalier FC will face the winner of the other semi-final between Cibao FC of the Dominican Republic and Real Hope of Haiti, with Cibao currently leading 3-2 from the first leg.
The 2024 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup champion will earn a bye into the round of 16 in the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup, while the runner-up and third-place team will begin in the first round. This is Cavalier FC’s second consecutive appearance in the regional tournament, a testament to their rising prominence in Caribbean football.
