Kingston, Jamaica — The Campion College community is reeling from a tragic accident on Tuesday that claimed the life of one of its young students. Rashad Richards, a second-form student and active member of the school’s rugby team, sadly passed away after an unfortunate incident where a goalpost reportedly fell on him.
In a heartfelt statement, Campion’s Principal, Lavare Henry, expressed the collective sorrow of the school. “With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we come together as a community of faith to share devastating news. Earlier today, we lost our second form student, Rashad Richards, as a result of a tragic accident on our campus. Our hearts and prayers go out to Rashad’s parents, family, and all who hold him dear during this unimaginably difficult time.”
Principal Henry further emphasized the importance of unity and compassion in times of grief. “In times of such deep loss, we draw strength from our faith and from each other. As an Ignatian community, we are called to be men and women for others, and now, more than ever, we must support one another with love, compassion, and prayer.”
The school has arranged for the guidance department, along with counselors from other institutions and the chaplaincy team, to provide support to students and staff affected by the loss. Special sessions will be held for Rashad’s classmates, teachers, and members of the rugby team, as well as any students present during the accident.
“May God’s infinite love comfort us all in our grief, and may He grant eternal light and peace to Rashad,” Henry concluded.
The loss of Rashad Richards has left a lasting impact on the Campion College family, who continue to honor his memory with deep love and respect.
