KINGSTON, Jamaica — Brandon Burke, a six-time Davis Cup champion for Jamaica and current attorney, has been re-elected to a third consecutive two-year term as the Players’ Representative on the WTA Executive Board.
Burke, who is also Chair of the Women’s Tennis Benevolent Association (WTBA) and a board member of the WTA Foundation, will continue to advocate for the interests of both singles and doubles players. Alongside Julia Boserup, Anja Vreg, and Kurt Samwald, Burke ensures that the players’ perspectives are integrated into the decision-making processes of the WTA.
Reflecting on his re-election, Burke noted the significant growth and change since his first term began. “I was honestly a bit surprised when I was first selected for this role at 27 years old,” Burke said. “The players viewed me as an investment in their sport, valuing my strong tennis background even though I was new to the business side of tennis.”
He emphasized his dedication to learning and growing within the role, which allowed him to effectively represent the players. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to continue representing the players, and I feel recognized that they have selected me for another term,” Burke added. “I am motivated to make a lasting positive impact on both the players and the organization.”
In addition to his WTA roles, Burke serves as special projects manager for Gore Development Limited and the Gore Family Foundation. He is particularly proud of the School Tennis Foundations program, which introduces thousands of children to tennis, many of whom would not otherwise have the opportunity to play. Burke is also a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s Emerging Leaders Council.
