WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — The early hours of Friday marked a significant milestone for law enforcement in the parish of Westmoreland, as Carlington “Tommy” Godfrey, one of the area’s most notorious criminals, was fatally shot during a targeted police operation in Little London.
Godfrey, frequently spotlighted in the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Wanted Wednesdays campaign, was linked to a slew of criminal activities. His demise is seen as a major triumph for the JCF and the community. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police and acting commanding officer for Westmoreland, Shaunjaye Mitchell, the operation’s success underscores the region’s intolerance for criminal elements.
“The success of this morning’s operation is a testament to the fact that criminals are not welcomed in Westmoreland or anywhere in Area One. This is a big win not only for the parish of Westmoreland but also for the entire Area One where he has been a main feature of numerous operations,” stated DSP Mitchell.
The police operation on Friday morning, which ended with Godfrey’s death, highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat crime and restore peace in Westmoreland. DSP Mitchell urged residents to maintain their cooperation with the police to eradicate criminal activities.
With the community feeling a sense of victory, the police remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding Westmoreland and its inhabitants from criminal influence.
