October 18, 2024
In a proactive response to heightened safety concerns, authorities in Westmoreland, Jamaica have imposed a 48-hour curfew in the Grange Hill communities. Affected areas include Geneva, Top Lincoln, Kings Valley, Belle Isle Road, and Crowder.
The curfew commenced at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 18, and is scheduled to be lifted by 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 20. Local residents and businesses are advised to adhere strictly to the curfew regulations during this period.
The curfew’s perimeter is specifically mapped out for clarity and compliance:
- North Boundary: Extends along an imaginary line from Peggy Barry Primary School to the quarry in Kings Valley.
- East Boundary: Runs from the Kings Valley community to the pump house at Bull Strode.
- South Boundary: Spans from the Bull Strode pump house to the cane interval within the Fullersfield community.
- West Boundary: Returns from the Fullersfield community cane interval back to Peggy Barry Primary School.
Residents within these boundaries are required to remain indoors unless officially authorized to leave by the designated ground commander. This measure is in place to ensure community safety and to assist law enforcement in addressing any potential threats or ongoing investigations within the area.
The decision to implement the curfew was made in collaboration with local authorities and community leaders, demonstrating the collective commitment to maintaining security and order in Westmoreland.
Stay tuned for any updates regarding the curfew status or potential changes in its duration or scope. Residents are encouraged to remain cooperative and to reach out to community officers for any clarification or assistance needed during this period.
