Model wearing patriotic Jamaican leisurewear by Jamroc Dept.
Former athlete Fernando Edwards always finds time to watch sports, especially big events like the Olympics, and with the Paris Games just two weeks away, the Jamaican entrepreneur has launched a patriotic leisurewear line.
The T-shirts, which feature images of Jamaican players and the colours of the Jamaican flag, are manufactured by Jamrock Dept., a company Edwards owns in Los Angeles.
“I came up with the design back in February. I knew the Olympics were coming up and I wanted to give fans a way to show they were rooting for the Jamaican team. Whether you’re Jamaican or not, this line will let everyone know who you’re rooting for,” he told Observer Online.
To promote his product line, Edwards plans to approach celebrities to endorse his self-designed products.
Edwards, a Clarendon native, competed in the 200 and 400 meters for Bridgeport High School at the boys’ national championships in 2004 and 2005. He also represented the school at the 2005 Penn Relays.
He received a track and field scholarship from Missouri Baptist University, where he represented the university in the 200 and 400 meters in the NCAA Championships.
With the Olympics (July 26-April 11) approaching, Edwards was determined to not only pay tribute to the current Jamaican team, but also celebrate his country’s incredible athletics history.
“We wanted to do something creative and different to the big brands. Something that actually represents us and is by us. We have a larger goal of giving back to Jamaica. Athletics is an important sport in our culture and it will help raise awareness of the brand,” he explained.

Edwards gave up athletics after earning a business degree from Missouri Baptist University, moved to Los Angeles, started a catering business and worked as an actor and director on projects including the 2023 crime thriller “Rooted Betrayal.”
