Kingston, Jamaica – September 7, 2024: A young man from Kingston has been charged with murder and several related offenses following the fatal shooting of a local call centre worker.
Rajae Lewis, a 22-year-old resident of Penn Street, Kingston 12, known by the nicknames “Piglet” and “Bragga,” has been charged with the murder of Leroy Morgan, also known as “Pi Pi.” The tragic incident took place on July 7 on Benbow Street in Admiral Town, Kingston 12.
Morgan, a 35-year-old call centre worker living on Beresford Street, was found by a police patrol team responding to gunfire heard in the area around 10:53 PM. Upon arrival, officers discovered Morgan lying on his right side in the roadway, gravely wounded from multiple gunshot injuries to the upper body. Emergency services were notified, and morgue attendants transported Morgan to Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following an intensive investigation, Lewis was apprehended by police on August 31. Witness statements gathered during a subsequent question-and-answer session led to his formal charging.
Lewis faces multiple serious charges, including murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and making use of a firearm to commit a felony.
